Toyota Motor Corp. will start commercial production of plug-in hybrid cars in 2012, the first time such vehicles will be mass-produced.
Plug-in hybrid vehicles are more fuel-efficient than existing models and can be charged at home. Toyota, Japan’s biggest carmaker, may manufacture 20,000 to 30,000 vehicles in the first year.
