U.S. Secretary of Energy Steven Chu will be in the Queen City to talk about how energy stimulus funding is helping to rebuild the economy. He will stop at a long-time Charlotte lithium battery parts maker to talk about how the recovery and reinvestment funds will create jobs toward that that rebuilding effort.
The Department of Energy is handling about $2.4 billion of the economic stimulus funds for the green transportation business.
Earlier this year, Chu and Vice President Joe Biden announced plans to invest $3.2 billion in energy efficiency and conservation projects around the country.
Other cabinet officials will speak in Pennsylvania, Missouri and Florida, while the president and vice president will speak in Indiana and Michigan, respectively, to encourage support for their economic revitalization plan.
